After a beautiful September of warm, dry days, the first fall rains have arrived. While summer flowers often shine their brightest in late August and September, cooler, wetter weather quickly takes its toll. That means it’s time for the seasonal color change-out — and nothing says fall like pansies.
Planting seasonal flowers is one of the most rewarding parts of landscape maintenance. We get to design, plant, and nurture, watching them grow into full, vibrant displays that bring joy all season long.
Our fall pansy program has been carefully refined over the years to ensure the healthiest, longest-lasting blooms possible. While greenhouse pansies start out strong, our wet winters present real challenges. To protect your investment, we use a proven program that includes:
- Biological disease prevention treatments in the greenhouse
- Fresh potting soil added each fall at planting
- Fungicide treatments at planting and monthly through winter
These steps increase costs, but they’re essential for success — without them, pansies simply won’t thrive. The results speak for themselves!
LAWN GROWTH IS SLOWING AND WET CONDITIONS ARE NEAR
As conditions shift, so do our priorities. Lawn growth has slowed, so we’ve moved to a bi-weekly mowing schedule, adjusting around dry weeks whenever possible. During wet weeks, like this one, our focus shifts to finishing pruning and beginning leaf removal. Consistent rain will make mowing more difficult, but we’ll continue to monitor the weather and mow as conditions allow. In the meantime, our crews are changing gears to wrap up pruning and start leaf clean-up.
LEAF REMOVAL WILL START SOON
As said, we will be focusing on leaf removal as we get a little bit later into the fall. We are well equipped for leaf removal using our truck mounted vacuums and we will pick up thousands of yards of leaves in the next two months.
